Solent University Marine Simulators

The new Marine Simulator training facility provides a real-life experience to the operators including a fully operational mission bridge simulator, two 360-degree bridge simulators, three 270 degree bridge simulators, a crane simulator, an HV training room, three engine room simulators, an engine control room, 36 desk top simulations, a liquid cargo simulation, debrief rooms and a welcome area.

The works included the soft-strip and demolition of all existing mechanical & electrical services, suspended ceilings, raised access floors, finishes / furnishings, and asbestos containing materials, to facilitate the refurbishment of the learning resource centre within the Andrews Building, Solent University.

The new facility included a network of VRF systems serving all areas for comfort cooling, and the provision of heat rejection for the data centre and server room. A complex system of containment, power and data distribution was required to serve the simulator suites, co-ordinated within the constraints of the existing building structures.
